Indiana Regional Medical Center believes "Moments Matter." The moment is now if you are 50 years of age or older to begin screening for colorectal cancer. This cancer can actually be "prevented" but it is up to you to make the call and speak to your doctor about preventing the second-leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States.
FACT:
According to the latest statistics available and published December of 2010 by the Pennsylvania Cancer Incidence and Mortality Executive Summary, there were a total of:
61 NEW cases of Colo-Rectal Cancer reported in a one-year period in Indiana County.
31 male
30 female
You have the power to stop colon cancer before it starts.
Colon cancer begins with a growth (a polyp) that is not yet cancerous. Scheduling a colonoscopy can help your doctor tell whether there is a problem and find polyps before they become cancer. Most people who have polyps removed never get colon cancer. If colon cancer is found, you have a good chance of beating it with treatment if it is found early. And testing can find it early.
Indiana Regional Medical Center's Endoscopy Department has all of the resources, equipment and highly-trained skilled staff to assist and care for you.
Please take this MOMENT to call and schedule an appointment with one of the physicians below or talk to your family physician about preventive measures.
